Video: Man drives his street car onto race track during race; authorities reportedly not amused

A 21-year-old Englishman was arrested this past weekend after he was able to take his privately owned street car through the pit lane and onto Brand Hatch raceway.

Here’s the video taken by the man’s girlfriend inside the car.

The driver, identified as Jack Cottle managed to get his VW Polo (Gulf), with several passengers, onto to the track during a British race staged by the British Racing and Sports Car Club. Video released of the incident showed several views of the incident , including one from the backseat of the offending car.  The race and incident occurred on Saturday; Cottle was arrested Sunday.

The Motor Sports Association and the circuit operators MotorSport Vision  has launched an investigation into the incident with the ultimate goal being to “ensure that all reasonable measures are taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future”.
